HDRA covers the Molyneux Street Conservation area which is made up of Harrowby, Brendon, Cato, Molyneux and Shouldham Streets plus Crawford Place. We are lucky to live in an area with such a strong sense of community and where so many people are actively working to preserve and promote the pleasures of living here. In general it is a quiet and peaceful enclave in the midst of the very busy West End, but if you do see problems or crimes, please refer here for more details of how to report crime and antisocial behavoiur.
HDRA is a major contributor to our community, bringing residents together to make the most of living here. Whether by keeping residents informed of future events of interest or by providing a channel of communication to other residents and to the authorities, HDRA helps to preserve all that is best in our area. By joining the HDRA, you can contribute to our success and make our influence even more powerful. We hold one or two social events a year for members and also maintain an online discussion group for members to discuss local issues, or perhaps to borrow a ladder, or a drill, or to ask for a recommendation for a plumber or builder.
Membership is open to all residents and businesses and currently costs £10 per year per household. We currently have over 130 members, but there are many more who would benefit from membership, in particular those in flats. Please encourage everyone who lives in our streets to join the Association. The more who join, the stronger and more forceful will be our voice with local authorities, and the more productive will be our communal life.
In 2020 on the 23rd February we are held a series of events commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Cato Street Conspiracy to overthrow the government in 1820.
There was an accompanying art competition for Primary school children. Prize winning entries can be seen here.
The subscription is £10.00 a year, per household, normally payable at the beginning of our year in June. For more information, or if you would like to join, please contact Lucy Taylor.
